Functions
- It has a delaying effect on plant nutritional growth, which can be absorbed by plant leaves and roots, transmitted to the whole plant, and can reduce the activity of gibberellins in the plant, thereby inhibiting cell elongation, weakening the growth of top buds, controlling the longitudinal and transverse growth of the plant, shortening the internodes, compact the plant, deepening the leaf color, reducing the leaf area, and enhancing chlorophyll synthesis. It can prevent plant vigorous growth, delay closure, etc.
- The main function of cotton is to inhibit the growth of the main stem of the cotton plant. It not only has an inhibitory effect on the height of the cotton plant, but also has an inhibitory effect on the lateral growth of the fruit branches of the cotton plant. After use, it can reduce the shedding of buds and bells, concentrate flowering and bell setting, and increase the number of peach trees before and during the spring season, especially in areas where cotton plants are excessively long, resulting in a more significant increase in yield. Mepiquat chloride can enhance the stability of cell membranes and increase plant stress resistance.

Matters needing attention
- The application of Mepiquat chloride should be determined according to the growth of crops, and should not be applied to fields with poor soil fertility conditions, insufficient water sources, and poor growth. For fields sprayed with Mepiquat chloride, it is necessary to strengthen field fertilizer and water management to prevent drought or fertilizer shortage. For crop varieties prone to premature aging, urea should be sprayed outside the roots for fertilization during the later stages of growth.
- Mepiquat chloride must be strictly controlled in terms of dosage and appropriate application period, and must be sprayed according to the prescribed dosage. The spraying time should not be too early to avoid affecting the normal growth of plants, but spraying too late can cause phytotoxicity. When spraying formaldehyde and causing drug damage, spraying gibberellin can be used to reduce the degree of drug damage.
- Mepiquat chloride should be sprayed on sunny days, and moderate to high precipitation within 3 hours after spraying can affect the effectiveness of the medication. Cannot be mixed with alkaline pesticides, nor with potassium dihydrogen phosphate. It can be mixed with pesticides such as dimethoate and monocrotophos, but should be applied immediately after mixing. If excessive inhibition occurs after application, 50mg/L gibberellin can be sprayed to alleviate it. Precipitation within 24 hours after pesticide application in cotton fields can affect the efficacy of the medicine.
- Although Mepiquat chloride is a safe and low toxic agent, non-toxic to bees and poultry, and non irritating to eyes and skin, it should still be avoided from inhalation and contact with eyes to prevent accidental ingestion by humans and animals. Mepiquat chloride is prone to moisture absorption and can even form water, so it should be stored in a sealed container.
- Can be mixed with various insecticides and fungicides.
- It should be stored in a dark and dry place, strictly protected from moisture, and not mixed with food, feed, or seeds.
