Matters needing attention
- It should be sprayed on sunny days, with a temperature of 20-30 º C being the most suitable. If the temperature is below 20 º C, the dosage of the medication should be appropriately increased. If it rains within 5 hours after spraying, it should be sprayed again.
- Ethephon cannot be mixed with alkaline pesticides, nor can it be diluted with highly alkaline water. The medicine should be prepared and used immediately. To improve the efficacy, 0.1% neutral laundry detergent can be added as a surfactant in the aqueous solution.
- It is necessary to strictly control the spraying concentration of the medicine. If it is used to ripen hawthorn exceeding 800mg/kg, it will cause phytotoxicity, and if the leaf shedding is less than 600mg/kg, it will not achieve the desired ripening effect. At the same time, attention should be paid to crop varieties, plant growth, and other conditions, and the concentration should be determined according to local conditions. /li>
- When Ethephon is applied to crops in the later stage, it should be harvested in a timely manner to avoid excessive ripening. Some fruits still have ripening effects after harvesting, so it should be taken into account during harvesting.
- Some crops are not suitable for using Ethephon, such as watermelon that cannot be used after harvesting, because Ethephon produces ethylene over a long period of time, which can cause pesticide residues. Eating Ethephon can cause diarrhea, and watermelon does not increase sugar content after being red.
