Functions

Naphthyloxyacetic acid (BNOA) is a naphthalene-based plant growth regulator with auxin biological activity, which is absorbed by leaves and roots.

It can promote fruit setting, stimulate fruit expansion, and overcome hollow fruits; when used together with rooting agents, it can also promote plant rooting.

Applications

BNOA can be used on grapes, pineapples, pine trees, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, and eggplants to extend the time the fruit stays on the plant. It is used by spraying it on the flowers at a dose of 40-60 mg/L in the early flowering period.

This effect is more obvious when mixed with gibberellic acid.

When the crop is flowering, spray the flowers with 25-30 mg/L to promote fruit setting and increase yield.

Spraying the flowers with 50-100 mg/L in the early flowering period of the crop can stimulate the ovary to swell and the fruit to grow faster.

When mixed with IBA and NAA, it can be used as a rooting agent.

Matters needing attention

BNOA can be absorbed by plant roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits, prolonging the fruit’s residence time on the plant.

Therefore, according to market conditions, when the market price is low, the fruit picking period can be postponed to wait for market price trends or stagger sales peaks to improve economic benefits.
