Functions
6-Benzylinopurine (6-BA) is a cytokinin plant growth regulator that can be absorbed by different parts of the plant, such as stems, leaves, fruits, buds, and flowers. It is used at different stages and has different effects
- Promote differentiation of non differentiated tissues;
- Promote seed and shoot germination;
- Improve photosynthesis, promote grain development;
- Promote flower bud formation and flowering;
- Promote fruit setting, preserve flowers and fruits, and induce female traits;
- Promote fruit enlargement and induce tuber formation.

Matters needing attention
- Cytokinin 6-Benzylinopurine (6-BA) has poor mobility and is not effective when used alone as a foliar spray. It must be mixed with other growth inhibitors.
- Cytokinin 6-BA is effective when used alone as a green leaf fresh-keeping agent, but it is more effective when mixed with gibberellins.
- When cytokinin 6-BA and gibberellins are used together, 6-BA must be dissolved in dilute hydrochloric acid, otherwise the efficacy of gibberellins will be affected.
